I flew with MAJ Badersnider during the
creation of the 218th (AC)/Fire Birds as a SP5 Flight Medic (91B2F)/
Firefighter (51M40) / Huey Crew Chief (67N20). Our Unit Commander demanded
that all Officers and NCOs be able replace one another in an emergency,
since the unit was designated to deploy to RVN in support of Air Mobile and
MEDEVAC operations upon our completion of training. Served 1971-1972.
Winter of 1972 I was assigned as a SGT Flight Medic (91B4F) with 507th Med
Co (MAST). Upon promotion to SSG I was made Platoon Sgt, 1st Flt. Plt. due
to my 67N20 background by the then 507th Med Company Commander, LTC C. Webb.
Served in unit 1972-1975.
I served under Hall Of Fame Member, LTC Webb until he recommended me for the
US Army PA Program in 1975. |
