218th Med Det (Helicopter Ambulance/Air Crash Rescue) Firebird, Ft. Hood, 1971. The crew maintained contact with the aircraft via short range FM radios connected to their flight helmets worn under aluminized asbestos fire hoods. Pictures show crew during practice mission at Ft. Hood.
